My name is Raquel de Oliveira, LCSW

I'm a Florida bilingual (Spanish/English) EMDR and trauma therapist with over a decade of experience helping adults find healing and lasting recovery from symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. 

My approach to therapy is focused on building trust, promoting self-awareness, and empowerment. I integrate trauma-informed care, strength base, and harm reduction to help my clients with quicker healing and lasting recovery. I use a variety of methods and techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and EMDR. I recognize that therapy is not easy, I offer a safe judgment free space. I aim to create a nurturing and supportive environment where you feel understood and validated in your experiences. I believe in working in partnership with my clients, utilizing their hidden strengths to help sort out difficulties and achieve peace of mind.

I specialize in working with adults of all ages who are seeking positive change, personal growth, and a deeper understanding of themselves, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, depressed and anxious about a number of life stressors that make it difficult to cope.

Mi enfoque

In our first session, we'll get to know each other and create a safe space for you to share your story. We'll discuss your feelings, their impact on your life, and any efforts you've made to address them. This session is about building connection and understanding the best path forward, as you are the expert on your own needs.

Anxiety

Can be overwhelming and debilitating. It can interfere with your daily life and prevent you from reaching your full potential.  I use evidence-based therapies such as CBT and mindfulness to help you manage your anxiety symptoms and regain control of your life.

Depression

Can make it difficult to enjoy the things you once loved and can leave you feeling hopeless and alone.  I am trained and have years of experience to help you navigate through the challenges of depression using evidence-based therapies, such as CBT and DBT.

Relationships

Can be a source of great joy and fulfillment, but they can also be a source of stress and conflict. I am trained to help you navigate through the challenges related to poor communication. Let me help you develop healthy boundaries, mutual respect, trust , fight fairly, and learn to compromise.

Addiction

Overcoming addiction is a journey that no one should have to do alone.  I offer the support you need to navigate this difficult journey. Together, we’ll work on developing tools to help manage cravings and develop a healthy lifestyle that minimized negative consequences to enhance quality of life.

Trauma

Trauma can have a lasting impact on your mental health and well-being.  I am trained in  (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused CBT Therapy.  Let me help you heal from the effects of trauma and move forward with your life.

Social Anxiety

I provide personalized self-esteem therapy to help you overcome insecurities and boost your confidence. With my guidance, you can learn valuable skills, get rid of social anxiety, and gain greater self-worth. Take the first step towards a happier, more fulfilling life today.

CBT

I employ a diverse approach to identify the most beneficial therapy. I have successfully aided hundreds of individuals in breaking the cycle of anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Through the use of CBT, they acquire stress management skills, gain insights into their triggers, and learn to reframe their thoughts. CBT will help you: •Identify negative, unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, and reframe them in ways that align with their goals and aspirations. •Challenge negative thought patterns by exploring diverse perspectives and questioning underlying assumptions. •Replace self-defeating thoughts with more constructive, positive ones to foster a healthier mindset. •Modify maladaptive behaviors to create a foundation for lasting change. •Maintain their progress by cultivating and practicing new habits to sustain long-term growth and success.

DBT

I received formal training and certification in DBT treatment in 2022. DBT is a evidence based approach that has been extensively applied in rehabilitation centers and community mental health clinics and individual and group therapy to empowering individuals to manage cravings, control impulsivity, and build resilience in the face of stress. Over the years, I have helped my clients develop essential skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Through our work together, they learn to embrace their feelings with acceptance and practice self-compassion, fostering a deeper connection with themselves. My clients are equipped with making meaningful, positive changes, leaving behind unhelpful behaviors and improving their interpersonal relationships. They discover a renewed sense of connection with the people they love, enabling them to live fuller, more enriching lives.

EMDR

For the past 8 years, I have incorporated EMDR into my practice. This has enabled me to assist individuals in processing traumatic experiences, leading to a gradual alleviation of their symptoms. A majority of my clients have reported an enhancement in their mood and an increased capacity to find joy in life. EMDR is a highly effective therapeutic approach that helps individuals process and overcome trauma and emotional distress. It utilizes eye movements, sounds, or taps to reprocess traumatic memories and reduce their negative impact on daily life. I have successfully employed EMDR therapy both online and in person, providing support to individuals struggling with PTSD, anxiety, and trauma. This evidence-based approach has enabled my clients to process traumatic experiences, leading to a gradual alleviation of their symptoms and an improved sense of well-being. A majority of my clients have reported noticeable enhancements in their mood, along with a renewed capacity to find joy and fulfillment in their lives.

Harm Reduction

I integrate a harm reduction approach for addiction treatment that focuses on reducing negative consequences rather than the standard focus on abstinence, and empowers clients to make positive changes at their own pace.

They handle the insurance billing and paperwork, so you can focus on your well-being. This allows me to accept a wide range of insurance plans.

To get started, you'll simply follow a link on this website to access my provider profile on either Headway or Grow Therapy.

There, you can easily set up an appointment and securely enter your insurance information. You'll also be able to review and sign consent forms, including details about your in-network coverage and co-pay obligations (typically handled with a credit card on file).
